Open Question: I made out and fooled around with my best friend?

So my best friend's a guy and I'm a girl. We've been best friends for a long time and I love & trust him. Today he had planned on showing me his penis (long story..) but we were planning on me seeing it and that's it, nothing else. Well when I sat on his lap he pulled me on top of him, and he started making out with me. For a while. Shortly after is when he told me he wanted to mess around, just this once. And well, I'm really confused. This wasn't supposed to happen but it did.. not only that but we didn't just fool around, he kissed me. He kissed me very passionately. But when he left, all we did was hug. But just thinking back, after we were done, he was all quiet, and I was like "what's up with you?" and he's like, "a lot of things.."
